HAN DYNASTY

The Beginning
A. Liu Bang was the first emperor of the Han dynasty. He led the rebellion against the preceding dynasty, the Qin.

The Beginning
B. Liu Bang named the Han dynasty in honor of his native land.

HAN WUDI
A. The imperial universities to prepare men for government and military service. He also ordered that books would be kept and that literature and musical education would be enforced.

HAN WUDI
B. Han Wudi's foreign policy was very rigorous and strict and made sure regions he captured became a part of the imperial expansion. He wished to expand the Chinese culture and enforced upon everyone. Trade and relations were also fairly rigorous.

LAND AND REFORM
A. A lot of the small land owners had to deal with the wealthy people who opened larger plots of land and larger houses and businesses. The small land owners had to face tension and debt as a result of not being paid enough for farming and work. This led to rebellions and eventually the end of dynasties.

LAND AND REFORM
B. Wang Mang limited the amount of land a family could have and ordered his government members to break up land plots and redistribute them. He intended for good, but it went wrong and created problems. Land owners resisted and created a setting that was not good for the dynasty.
