What was country/farming life like in the Roman times?

COUNTRY LIFE

• was a slower pace
• they enjoyed hunting and riding
• farmers worked seven days a week
• main crops were grains, olives, and figs
• farmers grew food for the city

* Romans in the country did have to work but still liked to talk to neighbors, go to market, and socialize.
* Roman farmers offered crops to the government to pay taxes.
