  • Where- Central Mexico at the foot of the Sierra Madre Occidental mountains
  • What- Combines town planning theories of Spain and Mesoamerica.
  • Why- contains 249 different monuments, and 50 noble families settled in this town.

ALEJANDRO DE HUMBOLT NATIONAL PARK

  • Where- Located on the north coast of eastern Cuba.
  • What- Best conserved mountain ecosystem in the Caribbean.
  • Why- One of the most biological diverse locations on Earth.

MONARCH BUTTERFLY BIOSPHERE

  • Where- About 100 kilometers northwest of Mexico City
  • What- About 1 billion monarch butterflies come to stay for the winter
  • Why- This area is important to the Monarch Butterfly's survival during the winter months.

AREA DE CONSERVACIÓN GUANCASTLE

  • Where-147,00 hectacres of land and sea in Northwest Costa Rica
  • What- There are wetlands, water courses, oak forests, and savannas.
  • Why- 7,000 different plant species and 900 vertebrate species inhabit this region.

QUEBRADA DE HUMAHUACA

  • Where- Located in extreme northwest Argentina
  • What- The Valley shows evidence it was a major trade route.
  • Why- shows the remains of previous successful societies built along the route.
