  • Their religion was based on polytheism.
  • They worshiped many deities.
  • Most gods and goddesses were part human part and part animal.
  • Temples were considered dwelling places of the gods.
  • Some gods and goddesses were local.

  • Most of the people from this time were poor.
  • The were dependent on the Nile for water and for it to replenish the soil.
  • Only a small few of the population was royalty or nobles.

LANGUAGE

  • They had the first written language called hieroglyphics
  • It was a series of pictures of things, people, or animals to express something.

HISTORY

  • They lasted almost 30 centuries.
  • Egypt was the preeminent in the Mediterranean world.
  • In their prime they were they were the most powerful civilization.
  • They were accomplished mathematicians, architects, and linguists

  • They had a distinctive social group.
  • Most Egyptians were poor and worked as farmers
  • The social groups go Gods, Pharaohs, soldiers, scribes
  • Merchants, artisans, farmers, and slaves
