DEAD SEA

  • 9x saltier then the oceans
  • Only bacteria can live in the water because it is so salty
  • 1,349 ft. Below sea level which is the lowest place on earth
  • You cannot sink. People call it the "Worlds Largest Spa"

RUB AL-KHALI

  • Known as the "Empty Quarter"
  • One of the largest sandy deserts in the world
  • 10 years may pass without rain fall
  • Tempature of sand often exceeds 150 degrees F

MEDITERRANEAN SEA

  • The coast of the Mediterranean Sea runs past 22 countires.
  • The Mediterranean Sea covers an area of 2.5million sq km and has an average depth of 1,500 metres.
  • In 2008, artist Saimir Strati made his Homage to Mediterranean Life from 229,764 wine corks.
  • Roland Garros was the first man to shoot down an enemy plane by firing through his propellor.

HINDU KUSH

  • Second highest peak. K2
  • For centuries Hindu Kush stood in the way of central Asian tribes trying to invade India.

  • The highest point is the Tirich Mir (7, 708)

ZARGOS MTNS.

  • 550 miles long and more than 150 miles wide.
  • Highest point is Zard Kuh elevation of 14, 921 Ft.
  • Rainfall in the region is about 40 inches annually
  • Range consists of folded mtns. Made up of mostly limestone and dolomite.

CASPIAN SEA

  • It is often listed as the world's largest lake, though it is not a freshwater one.
  • It is the world's largest inland body of water, with a surface area of 371,000 km²
  • The area is rich in energy wealth.
  • The Caspian became landlocked about 5.5 million years ago.
