  • Persuade them for or against a cause.
  • Varies in form and technique.
  • Grown immensely. Invention of means of communication at a large scale.

  • Influence your decisions.
  • People should know the purpose of propaganda,
  • so they can make independent decisions, not influenced by propaganda.

HOW DOES A GOVERNMENT USE PROPAGANDA

  • Propaganda is the most modern of weapons.
  • Want to get people to believe what they say.
  • Control what you think.
  • “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it."
  • Joseph Goebbels (Nazi master of propaganda).

BOLSHEVIK PROPAGANDA AIMS

  • To demonize their enemies,
  • To show the Bolsheviks as the saviors of the working people
  • To teach people about the Bolshevik's new policies and how they were to be implemented.
