UNIT 4 VOCABULARY

Renaissance: The forms of art and culture beginning in Italy in the 1300s transforming Europe into a more modern world. They also encourage sea travel was the development of seafaring skills & technologies.

Westernization: The influence with ideas, customs and values in Europe and the Western world. The colony of Macao that Portuguese established in 1513 it served as a primary entry for trade.

Absolutism: Unrestricted power in the government which the system is complete. Louis XIV king of France embodied the principle of absolutism.

Divine Right: The right of rule derives directly from god and not from the people. China the rulers had long claimed the Mandate of Heaven to support their rule.

Commercial Revolution: The rapid expansion of business that transformed Europe in the 1600s . Commercial ReVolution helped European nations gain dominance on world stage.

Capitalism: An economic system in which distribution, production and exchange of wealth is made and maintained by private individuals. Britain & Holland, devised new methods of business and banking.

Secular: Not connected with religion. Ideas and culture were changing the ideas ranged from new religious to secular principles.

Conquistadors: One of the Spanish conquerors. Small armies of Spanish conquistadors defeated the Aztec and Inca empires.

Mestizos: A person mixed ancestry mixed with American Indian & Europe. Mixed race descendants of Europeans.

Inflation: Rise in general level of prices increase in volume of money and resulting loss of value. The countries invested wisely such as Britain & Holland prospered despite inflation.

Columbian Exchange: Transfer of plants, animals and diseases from different regions. The hemisphere known as the Colombian exchange.

Great Dying: Spread of America transferred form Europe. People died by viruses spread from community to call the Great Dying.

Humanism: Renaissance visualizing the value of itself & comparing the religious. Any system made of thought principles or culture.

Reformation: Religious movement in 16th century object reform Roman Catholic Church. Religious movement that split the Catholic Church & gave birth to Protestant religion.

Enlightenment: Live in spiritual enlightenment. New age learning about the problems and nature figuring how to change their infrastructure

Essential Question: I think what changed the world more between 1400 & 1800 was different ideas. The renaissance always expanded the ideas along with the connections such as empires, & culture. The movement of ideas and cultural diffusion made our world transform if not we wouldn't have nothing.
