WHAT WERE THE NAVIGATION ACTS?
The navigation acts restricted trade in three major ways.
Only British could bring goods to and from the colonies.
The only people who could trade with the colonies were British citizens.
Goods such as sugar and tobacco produced in the colonies had to be exported to British Ports.

They were effective in the years of 1650-1696

DID YOU KNOW?
British introduced the acts earlier but didn't really enforse them;
(glorious revolution had them occupied)
they introduced the acts again after the French & Indian war,
but the colonies firmly objected.
It was intended to make colonies a supplier of raw materials.
