Anne Hathway was from Shottery, a small village a mile from Stratford. She visited the town and had the opportunity to meet William Shakespeare.

Relationship with his wife Shakespeare gave Susanna a lot of provision including his real estate holding in Stratford and London. In his will he said they should give Anne me second best bed with furniture. Scholars say that 1st best bed were for the guest. According to the law of that day the wife (Anne) should been entitled to one- third of her husband provision(estate).
