  • LSD both stimulates and inhibits these receptors from signals
  • Portion of the brain Locus Coeruleus branches to different parts of brain
  • LC is responsible for feeling awake and being startled
  • This causes altered and euphoric effects

  • hallucinogenic 
  • Best known, most studied, and most potent hallucinogen
  • Causes feeling of panic and altered preception
  • Users feel as though they may not escape state of panic

  • Crossover senses, synesthesia (hearing colors, seeing sound)
  • Altered sense of self
  • Altered sense of time
  • Add Swing rapidly from one emotion to another
  • Feeling several different emotions at once

Harmful effects

  • Bad trips and experiences that can lead to self harm
  • Unpredictable reactions from drug use
  • Users may build a tolerance 
  • Tolerance is dangerous causing users to use more of the drug
  • More of the drug is dangerous due to being so unpredictable
