  • Idaho is known as the "Potato State'.
  • Idaho state motto "esto perpetua" means means "it is forever".
  • Idaho is 83,557 square miles.
  • 63% of Idaho is public land
  • The Gem State: Idaho produces 72 types of precious stones and semi-precious stones.

Why is Idaho called the Gem State? Because nearly every known types of gemstones has been found there. Idaho is one of only two places in the world where star garnets can be found. The other one is in India.

Why is Idaho called the Potato State? Because the potatoes in Idaho was the official state vegetable in 2002. Idahos volcanic rich soil, water from melting snow, clear air and sunny days produce high -quality potatoes that have made Idaho famous worldwide.
