COMBINING SCIENCE WITH DESIGN

UNDESIRABLE

  • Diseases
  • Bacteria
  • Fungi

DESIRABLE

  • Home wares
  • Furniture
  • Wallpaper
  • Soft furnishing
Bacteria and diseases are common problems we all face, something we cannot ignore and in most cases, cannot stop.

Taking the "undesirable" aspect of this, I've decided to come up with a way of showing how these Deadly and Nasty viruses can have "beautiful" side, yeah I know they're not actually beautiful, but i think if done right and I can find a way to show this, then I feel it could be a new take on making desirable objects.

Something that at first looks really nice and pretty, but yet the story behind it is the fact it could be the Cancer or HIV virus.

Using images on fabrics, walls, even in furniture, looking at Molecular structures.
(Perhaps molecular architecture)

Also, if created on a large scale, this could also be educational for the younger generation.

Speak to scientists, look at first hand images, or pop to hospitals for some feedback and ways of obtaining scientific images.

Research will include:
Science books on bacteria and virus
Molecules and molecular structures up close
See if perhaps I could get hold of x ray images
Toxicology - study of the adverse effects of chemicals on living organisms

could be another area, which shows the study of symptoms, and detection of poisoning

TO COME UP WITH A CONCEPT, OR IDEA TO COMBINE THEM BOTH.
