A FUNCTION?

WHAT IS

The relationship between an input and one output is a function.

An example of a function would be a city to mayor. This is because there is only one of each city, and each city has only one mayor.

A NON-FUNCTION?

WHAT IS

A non-function is the relationship between an input and an output but is not a function, due to the fact that an input may not have multiple outputs.

An example of a non-function would be a state to a city in the state. This is because a function is supposed to have one output, so if a state is the input, then all the cities in the state would be outputs.
