MATH

  • The basic logic principles used for deduction in modern science
  • and mathematics were systematized by Aristotle in his writings
  • on "sylogistic logic." The Greeks were the first to study general
  • mathematical laws and principles beyond practical problem-
  • Solving and the first to delve into abstract mathematics.

ART

  • many of the techniques used in their temples and official buildings are still
  • used today. Greek architects developed the post-and-lintel system, which
  • uses the placement of stones and the effects of gravity to hold structures
  • in place. They also developed doric, ionic and corinthian columns.

  • The Romans achieved high levels of technology in some part
  • Because they borrowed from and absorbed the culture of the
  • established people of the Mediterranean basin.some inventions
  • such as the mechanical reaper, were surprising until 19th c.

  • Of rational medicine is one of the most important discoveries
  • of the Greeks—remarkable for its absence of any appeal to
  • Magic, religion, or superstition.
