BOOTLINGING IS THE PROCESS OF SMUGGLING ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES INTO THE STATES

WHAT CAME OUT OF THIS?

  • The brutal murder of 7 people on February 14th 1929
  • The event above is refered to as the Valentines day massacre
  • This murdering was caused by Al Capone and the vicious Italian Mafia

WHAT ARE THE CONNECTIONS?

  • This made the wealthily feel invulnerable and rebellious
  • It made parties become very alcohol populiouss
  • It put alcohol up on a pedestal and looked highly upon

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?

  • During the 1920's this was a huge way of income for many
  • It defined the 20's as a rebellious age
  • The mafia rose up out of this and many murders caused by them
  • It helped boost the economy from the new found wealth
