  • Located in San Francisco Bay, California. Pacific Ocean
  • Surrounding cities Oakland, San Jose

Abiotic conditions
The average temperature annually is around 53 degrees

MAJOR PRODUCERS

  • Plants here produce oxygen through photosynthesis
  • Without plants, there would be very little other life around here
  • "one of only five regions in the world with a Mediterranean climate and where biological diversity is exceptionally high. "

  • Fish in San Francisco Bay can be classified as either bottom dwellers, middle dwellers, or top dwellers, depending on where the fish lives.
  • Bottom dwellers in the Bay are the California Halibut and Leopard Shark
  • The most common middle dweller is the Shiner Surfperch.
  • A common Top dwellers in this area include the Jacksmelt

IMPORTANT MAMMALS AMD BIRDS

  • Virginia Opposum, American shrew mole, mountain beaver, California ground squirrel, gray fox are common mammals
  • Canada goose, mallard, California quail, great blue heron, and brown pelicans are common birds in the bay
