• Moistens air and traps bacteria (mucus)
• Air turbulence is increased and particles are trapped (conchae)

PHARYNX

• Passge way for both food and air
• Drains the middle ear (pharyngotympanic tubes)

LARYNX

• Speech (vocal folds)

TRACHEA

• Filters air and pushes the debis away from the lungs (ciliated mucosa)

BRONCHI

• Sends air to each lung (left and right main bronchi)

BRONCHIOLES

• Lead to repsitatory zone structures where gas exchange occurs
