I TRAVELED TO THE PORT OF KAFFA

  • There, I witnessed a religion fight and the birth of my second child
  • I then traveled two months and 15 days to the Volga River to meet
  • Kipchak Khan Ozbeg, the king of the steppes. It was very cold and
  • damp. We ate richly, with new foods like dugi with curdled milk,
  • rishta, and a drink called buza. We travelled to Constantinople with his

IN CONSTANTINOPLE

  • Kipchak Khan Ozbeg let his wife have no veil and eat pork! It was
  • very odd, since Ozbeg is Muslim like I. After a long trial, we went
  • back to his home and I continued my travels on the Silk Road with
  • a large sum of items, including 400 wagons, 2000 horses, and
