CAMPING SAFETY

A first aid kit is highly recommended for safety. A first aid kit could include adhesive bandages, cotton wraps, alcohol wipes, etc.

RULES FOR SAFETY

  • Ask for permission to help an injured person.
  • Keep your first aid kit close.
  • Use the buddy system when leaving your camping group.
  • Don't drink stream water, unless chemically purified.
  • Never come closer than 3 feet to a fire.

TREATING INJURY EXAMPLES

  • Head injury: put cloth where injury is and wrap it around the head.
  • Broken leg: put two sticks on side of leg, use cloth to tighten the sticks unto the leg. Make sure to wrap around foot too.
  • Burn: run cloth under cool water and cover burn. Make sure it is not ice.

FOOD SAFETY

  • Never throw food in a fire.
  • Always clean up your trash.
  • Never feed food to the animals.
  • Always wash your hands.
