  • Rwanda has a normal climate but can be very hot.  
  • Rwanda is located next to the equator.
  • The capital of Rwanda is called Kigali. 
  • The population is estimated about 11 million people.
  • Common language spoken is Kinyarwanda, French, and English.

More about rwanda

  • Relgions are Catholic, protestant, Islam, and mostly christianity.
  • Ethnic groups are Hutu 84%, Tutsi 15%, and Twa 1%.
  • The current president now is Paul Kagame since 2000. 
  • Rwanda is a small landlocked country in East-Central Africa.
  • Genocide took place in Rwanda in the year 1994.

The ethnic groups

  • Tutsis were higher up than the Hutus and in control until 1959.
  • Germany and Belgium were in control of Rwanda before WW1.
  • Burundi took full control when Germany lost the war. 
  • Burundi made Hutu's in charge of the government.
  • Massacres happened in Rwanda to the Tutsis also called Genocide.

Twa is a very small group that are not in conflict and only worry about hunting and trade.

History

  • late 1800's, Tutsis were known to raise the most cattle.
  • The Hutu was not allowed to take any responsibility's.
  • The Tutsis were the leadership positions.
  • Before Germany took control Tutsis and Hutus got along well.
  • in 1933, It was mandatory to carry an ethnic group identification card. 

Genocide

  • in 1994 Hutus were out to kill any Tutsis and vanish their population.
  • 200,000 Tutsis fled to Burundi due to this massacre.
  • On April 1994, a plane carrying President Juvenal habyarmanav was shot down
  • The (RPF) Rwandan Patriotic Front led by the Tutsis launched a military
  • campaign to control Rwanda.

genocide

  • 800,000 Tutsis and  Hutus that composed the genocide were killed.
  • Millions of Hutus fled to Zaire and the DR Congo until 2002.
  • Rwanda withdrew its forces from DR Congo after 
  • signing a peace deal with Kinshasa.
  • In 2012, the UN accused Rwanda of training rebel troops in the Dr congo.

since 2000, researches are finding evidence of the genocide

  • Rwanda exports are coffee, tea, hides, and tin ore.
  • Rwanda imports are foodstuff, steel, petroleum, and cement. 
  • Rwanda population growth rate is about 2.75%
  • Rwandas constitution passed on May 26th, 2003.
  • Rwanda highest point is Volcan Karisimbi at  4,519 m

  • Blue represents happiness and peace.
  • Yellow represents economic development and mineral wealth.
  • Green represents hope of prosperity and natural resources.
  • The sun symbolizes unity, enlightenment and transparency from ignorance
