DEHYDRATION

  • When you body does not have enough water
  • Causes thirst,less frequent urination,dry skin fatigue
  • You can get it from being sick,vomit,diarrhea
  • You loose many vitamins and minerals
  • Led to 2,163 deaths since 2003 in the us

PREVENTING DEHYDRATION

  • Always drink water even if you do not feel thirsty
  • If your sick try to regain the fluids you have lost
  • Drink sports drinks to regain the vitamins you've lost
  • Eat foods with high water content
  • Drink 8 cups of water for every one pound lost

DO SPORTS DRINK WORK?

  • Sports drinks refill electrolytes
  • Sports drinks give you sodium
  • The sugar helps the vitamins get through your body
  • Water is in sports drinks
  • But sports drinks only should be used if necessary

  • Doctors test for sodium, potassium, chloride, and bicarbonate.
  • They help run our body and body systems
  • Electrolytes are minerals in your blood and other body fluids
  • They are the electric pulse for your body

TYPES OF DEHYDRATION
Mild Dehydration is when you lose 3-5% of your body fluid. Moderate dehydration is when you loose 6-9% of your body fluid. Severe is when you lose 10%+ of your body fluid.

DEATHS FROM DEHYDRATION

  • When your body does not have enough fluids it begins to shut down
  • Your body will try to use all the water in the body and get it to your brain
  • When this happens your body will go into a coma
  • When this happens your body shuts down and it results in death
  • There has been 2500+ deaths from dehydration in the US in the last 10 years
