Persia's Influence

  • the Muslims adopted art and architecture
  • the veiled women tradition came from Persia
  • the luxurious clothes people wore were from the Persians
  • literary traditions and works were influenced by the Persians
  • example of above: "The Arabian Nights"

India's Influence

  • many mosques were made with Indian influence
  • this was called Indo-Islamic art, and was prevalent in Muslim society
  • the Muslims used Indian methodology to spread their religion to others
  • the Muslims used "Hindi numerals in their mathematic studies
  • an example of above: algebra (which is an Arabic word)

Greece's Influce

  • many of Greece's medical theory was used in Muslim society
  • scientific texts from the Greeks were used by Muslim people
  • Greek philosophy helped form much of early Islamic philosophy
  • philosophical influence can be seen in al-Kindi and al-Farabi among others
  • an example of above: Plato
