Boron, Aluminum, Gallium, Carbon, Silicon, and Germanium!

THE PATTERNS WE NOTICED ARE:

  • All Elements Are Solids Except The Bottom two in each group.
  • All Elements in This Group Are Stable Again Exept the Bottom Two.
  • The first three elements in the carbon group can be eaten in small amounts.
  • The first three elements in the boron group conduct heat and electricity.

BORON

  • Boron is metalloid
  • Color- black
  • Boron is found naturally on earth
  • Boron is solid at room temperature
  • Its name came from the arabic and Persian words for borax

ALUMINUM

  • Aluminum is a metal
  • Aluminum is a very abundant element
  • Color- silver
  • Its name came from the Latin word for alum, alumen
  • Aluminum is solid at room temperature

GALLIUM

  • Gallium is a metal
  • Color- silvery blue
  • Its name came from the Latin word for France, gallia
  • Never found free in nature
  • Gallium is solid at room temperature

CARBON

  • Carbon is a non-metallic element
  • Color- black(graphite)
  • Its name came from the Latin word for charcoal, carbo
  • Six most abundant element in the universe
  • Carbon is solid at room temperature

SILICON

  • Silicon is a semi-metal
  • Color- silvery
  • Its name came from the Latin word for flint, selex
  • Silicon is solid at room temperature

GERMANIUM

  • Germanium is a semi-metal
  • Color- gray-white
  • Its was named for the country of Germany
  • Germanium is solid at room temperature
