Identity theft occurs when fraudsters use your personal information without your knowledge or consent to take out bank accounts, credit cards, loans, state benefits and documents such as passports and driving licenses in your name.

How to protect yourself

Regularly check bank statements & personal finances for suspicious activity.

Keep PINs & passwords for debit & credit cards away from public access.

Try not to create codes that are easy to detect.

Keep personal information safe.
Shred all documents that contain personal info.

Check your credit report & stay up to date on your credit score & credit profile.
