EVIL SPIRITS

  • Native tribes believed that diseases were caused by evil spirits
  • They would then drill holes in your head with hopes that the evil spirits would come out.

HUMORS

  • Hippocrates believed that diseases were caused by "Humors".
  • Humors were believed to be disease-causing fluids.

HERBAL TREATMENTS

  • People hoped that inscents could cure victims of the Black Death.
  • They would burn herbs to see if the patients would get better.

ANATOMY STUDIES

  • In around 1400, people started to study the anatomy of a human to see what was inside and how illnesses worked.

GERMS

  • Louis Pasteur concludes that diseases are caused by small "animals", which we know as germs.

  • SARS affects the respiratory system

POLIO EMERGES

  • Some people do not get vaccines, and they get polio.
  • The world goes crazy to stop it and polio slowly dies down again
