CAPONE

  • Capone became very ill in prison and in 1939 he was paroled.
  • He was prisoner number 85 in Alcatraz
  • He died in prison at age 48
  • He was a millionaire when he was 30
  • He quit school at the sixth grade

THE FLAPPER

  • The long locks of Victorian women lay on the floors of beauty parlors as young women cut their hair to shoulder length. Hemlines of dresses rose dramatically to the knee. The cosmetics industry flowered as women used make-up in large numbers. Flappers bound their chests and wore high heels.

19th AMENDMENT

  • Ratified on August, 18, 1920, the 19th Amendment forbids voting rights discrimination anywhere in the United States based on sex. The amendment's adoption was the result of a nearly century-long campaign to allow women to vote.
