TROPICAL RAINFOREST

BRAZIL

  • Brazil is in South America and is known for their tropical rainforests.

THE AMAZON

  • There are 7880 native tree species, but 134 are endangered and 187 are vulnerable.

SEASONAL RAINFALL

  • The annual average amount of rainfall is reaching as much as 120 inches.

TEMPERATURE

  • During the daytime the temperature in the rainy season is usually in the mid 80s.
  • During the night time, the temperature drops down to the mid 70s to high 60s.

ABIOTIC FACTORS

  • The amount of water and sunlight, climate, weather and precipitation. They affect trees and animals.
  • Without the right amount of water and sunlight the time in the rainforest would not be able to grow.

ENDANGERED ANIMALS

  • The Golden Lion Tamarin Monkey is the size of a squrrel. They live off of flowers, fruits, insects, gum, nectars from plants, snails, frogs, birds eggs and lizards.
  • They are the most endangered species and are also tiniest monkeys. There are 800 left today.

ENDANGERED PLANTS

  • The Rafflesia is the worlds largest flower. The Rafflesia flower are vulnerable to deforestation and development and becomes more threatened. They do not bloom until they're ready to reproduce.

HUMAN IMPACT

  • Selective logging and surface wildfires can be an annual loss of 54 billion tons of carbon from the Brazilian Amazon increasing Greenhouse Gas Emission.
