HIS LIFE BEFORE THE WAR

  • Benjamin was born on Jan 17,1706.
  • He had 17 siblings including himself.
  • At the age of 10 Benjamin began to help in his fathers shop.
  • When Ben was 17 he fell in love with 15 year old Deborah, and he purposed to her. Her father was deceased ,and Deborah's mother told him that he could not marry her daughter.

  • When British troops landed in Virginia in the summer of 1755, Franklin hired wagons for them to carry supplies.
  • He organized companies of volunteer soldiers and had guns placed along the Delaware River.
  • The Pennsylvania assembly sent him into the frontier to direct the building of forts ,and to raise troops.

  • Ben Franklin died at the age of 84 on April 17, 1790
