By: Holly, Kaylee, Jacob, and Hannah

"OUTSIDERS"
"...we are now confronted by a series of demonstrations led in part by outsiders,"
~saying he has no business in a city he's never been in

King's Response:
"Never can we afford to live with the narrow, provincial "outsider idea'"
~we can't continue to be called outsiders, wasting time

"UNWISE AND UNTIMELY"
"...these demonstrations are unwise and untimely."
~Statement made to dim the light of situation

KING'S RESPONSE
He argues this accusation with: "I have never yet engaged in a direct action movement that was 'well timed.'"
This points out the ridiculousness of such an accusation. There will never be a "good" time

"Irresponsible"
"All of us need to face responsibility..."
Accusing King and rest of black community for being irresponsible for breaking the law.

King's Response
"This reveals we did not act irresponsibly into direct action."
~Direct action is in fact the responsible thing for them to do.

Violence
"...show restraint as demonstrations continue...protect our city from violence."
~calls his peaceful acts out as causing more harm (violence) than good
