What is an Iambic Pentameter?

  • Its a curve for unstressed syllables and a straight line for stressed ones.
  • Each verse is made up of five 2 syllable Iams to reach a total of ten syllables

Why Does he Use it?

  • It makes it sound technical
  • It makes it seem more passionate.
  • It makes it more Introspective
  • And also Momentous

What is a Poetic Meter?

  • A poetic meter is basically the same thing as Rythm.
  • A line verse is a foot is a certain number of stressed and unstressed syllables forming a unit.

What is a Dactyl?

  • It is a metrical foot of three syllables with the first stressed and the second and third unstressed.

Why Did He Use it In Certain Moments?

  • It was easy for him to memerize.
  • It was easy for the audience to understand because it is naturally suited to the english language.
  • But there could be another reason; Your heart beats in Iams put your right hand over your heart. It beats in Iam Pentameter.

  • In conclusion Shakespeare was actually a pretty smart poet. He used the Iambic Pentameter not only because it was the closes thing to remember but also because you are literally speaking with your heart. Every method of writing he did was all pretty much the same so it was easy to remember.
