  • Yttrium was discovered by Johann Gadolin in 1794.
  • Yttrium was discovered in Finland
  • Named after the village of "Ytterby" near Vaxholm in Sweden

COMMON USES

  • Yttrium is used to produce phosphors which give the red color in color television tubes.
