WHAT IS CATHOLIC SOCIAL TEACHING

• It is seven themes about how to live and follow the Catholic faith
• It helps Catholics know how to live their life as holy people of God
• In addition, these seven themes provide us with wisdom

LIFE AND DIGNITY OF THE HUMAN PERSON

• All human lives are sacred
• Catholics are against abolition, the death penalty, and cloning
• In addition, Catholics believe in trying to solve worldly problems peacefully

CALL TO FAMILY, COMMUNITY, AND PARTICIPATION

• People are sacred and social
• Families must be strengthened
• Everyone has a right to participate in helping society

RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• All people can live happily if they meet their duties and responsibilities
• Every person has the right to live
• We all have responsibilities to fulfill for our families,to our neighbors, and to our community

OPTION FOR THE POOR AND VULNERABLE

• People should base their economic decisions on moral principles
• The Church believes the economy should provide justice to all
• Society should protect the rights of everyone

THE DIGNITY OF WORK AND THE RIGHTS OF WORKERS

• The rights of workers should be respected
• People should not just serve the economy
• Working is a way of honoring God

SOLIDARITY

• We are all created equal
• We must love our neighbor
• All of us are brothers and sisters in Christ

CARE FOR GOD'S CREATION

• We must protect God's creation
• Being stewards of creation is essential
• The environment is God's gift, and we must conserve it
