1.
FORCES IN FLUIDS
2.
PRESSURE IN FLUIDS
Fluid Pressure depends on depth
Greater the depth, the greater the pressure
Fluids include liquids and gases: they take the shape of their containers and will flow
Fluids flow from high pressure to low pressure area
Formula: pressure = force divided by area
3.
DENSITY AND BUOYANCY
Density is the ratio of mass to volume in a given substance
Formula: Density = Mass over Volume
Sinking: an object will sink if it is more dense than the fluid if it is in OR of it has greater weight than the buoyant force
Floating: an object will float if it is less dense than the fluid it is in OR is equal to the buoyant force
4.
ARCHIMEDE'S PRINCIPLE
Displace: to take the place of
Principle: buoyant force on an object in a fluid is an upward force equal to the weight of the fluid it displaces
