THE THREE MAIN PARTS OF A WIND TURBINE
Rotor blades
Gear box
Generator

3.
How Rotor Blades Work
Take energy from the wind
They "capture" the wind and turn it in rotation of the hub
They use the same "lift" system
First there below the wing
Second stream of air produces, over pressure
Third it's above the vacuum wings
It has 3 blades
Horizontal axes
Diameter of 40 to 90

Gear Box
Connects low-speed shaft to a higher speed to increase that retains the speed to 30-60 rotations per minute that's about 1,000 to 1,800 rpm.
You need 1,000-1,800 that's the speed required to produce energy
The gear box is costly and heavy
Part of a wind turbine is when engineers explore "direct-drive" but that generates lower rotation speed not gear boxes

Generator
Produces 60-cycle AC electricity
Converts mechanical energy into electrical energy
Spinning blade of a wind turbine are connected to a spinning rotator and generator
Useful in areas with a lot wind
Safer then fossil fuels
Can provide electric power machines, homes, large buildings, and entire cities

Wind Turbine Facts
1 wind turbine ca power 500 homes
95% of wind turbines are installed on private land
Iowa and South Dakota generated more then 25% of wind energy in 2013
On May 2014, the United States is home of 46,000 operating wind turbines
By 2030 the United States would save 30 trillion bottles of water
Americans wind power is worth $10 billion dollar industry
