PRESENTATION OUTLINE

The Effect Of H2o On The pH Level Of Diet Mountain Dew And Acidic Acid

LAUREN STEVENS AND LAURA BARTZ

If 5mL of H2o is added to 15mL of Diet Mountain Dew and Vinegar then the Mountain Dew will be less acidic.

Diet Mountain Dew contains Ethylenediaminetetraacetic Acid (EDTA). A fruity, caffeinated flavoring.

Experimental Design

  • the amount of water was the independent variable
  • The pH level was the dependent variable
  • Control was water
  • Constant 5mL of water each trial
  • Measure 15 mL of Vinegar and Diet Mountain Dew

Experimental Design CONTINUED

  • Find the pH of each
  • Add 5 mL of h2o 3 times
  • After each time h2o is added measure pH

Data

Graph

Our hypothesis was proved correctly, by the pH balance becoming more neutral.

Error

  • pH papers could've been faulty
  • Human error
  • Not properly reading pH papers

Next Experiment?

  • Someone having Diet Mountain Dew and Water at the same meal
  • Testing the amount of acidity in their mouth
  • Have them more water and less Diet Mountain Dew each trial
