The global transfer of plants, animals and disease during.

Most important crop because it was inexpensive and nutritious.

  • The Europeans introduced many different animals to the americas.

  • Pigs

SPREADING DISESE

  • There were many diseases spread from Europe to the americas.
  • Small pox
  • Influenza
  • Typhus
  • Measles

Disease had a huge effect on the life of the Native Americans. Disease was just as much a part in the exchange as food and goods. Millions of Native Americans died.

  • New wealth from the Americas.
  • Dramatic growth in overseas trade.

  • Created a new wave of businness and trade practices.
  • This created the roots of todays financial dealings.
  • Occurred during 16th and 17th centuries.

CAPITALISM

An economic system based on private ownership and on the investment of money

INFLATION

  • An increase in economic activity caused inflation in Europe.
  • Occurs when people have more money to spend therfore higher product demand.
  • Ex. Spain in the 1600s recieved boatloads of gold and silver from the Americas
  • Caused infaltion in spain.

JOINT-STOCK COMPANY

A business in which investors pool their wealth for a commom purpose, then share the profit

An early example of a Joint-Stock Company would be 1500-1600s during the American colonization period. People would send large amounts of money overseas to build colonies, and they would share their profit.
