Hurricane Andrew

  • Started in the Bahamas.
  • Then Elliot Key and Homestead, Florida.
  • Then slowing down to a 3 next hit Morgan City, Louisiana.
  • Downgrading to a tropical storm hitting Mississippi.
  • The next day, downgrading to a frontal system over the Appalachian Mountains.

Bahamas

  • The locals predicted a storm surge.
  • The Weather Channel upgraded to a hurricane warning.

  • The locals predicted tides up to 14 feet above normal.
  • The National Hurricane Center later noted the storm surge up to 10 feet.
  • Lee County officials recommended an evacuation.
  • U.S. Coast Guard vessels on or near the Florida coastline.
