FLOODS

  • A flood is when water overflows onto land.
  • If a flood occurs you should move to higher ground.
  • After a flood water can cause roads to cave in and can make the ground unstable so you should be cautious.

DIFFERENT FLOODS

  • There are two types of floods: Flash floods and overland flooding.
  • Flash floods occur without a lot of warning. They can be caused by excessive rain or dam/levee failure.
  • Overland floods happen when rivers or streams overflow onto land because of rain.
