In the U.S. hundreds of thousands of people participate in an event which puts two or more animals against each other a fight.

Kinds of Animal Fighting

  • Dog Fighting
  • Cock Fighting
  • Hog-Dog Fighting

Dog Fighting

Two to three dogs, usually pitbull terriors, are put into a pit together. Owners and views bet on a dog to win, the dogs fight until one or both are seriously injured or killed. The winner, can still be tortured highly even to death.

Facts

  • Dog fighting is illegal in all states except Georgia, Idaho, & Nevada
  • It is a felony in all states but New york, Texas, West Virginia, & Wyoming
  • Spectating is not illegal, but a felony in 22 states, and misdemeanor in 26.
  • Two specifically bred, conditioned, and trained to fight dogs are placed in a pit (usually small with wood walls).
  • $5000-$200,000 can be bet on one dog fight 

More facts

  • Pitbulls terrier-type dogs used in the majority of these fights,with extremely powerful jaws, able to inflict severe bruising, deep puncture wounds, and broken bones.
  • Dogs put in the events often die of blood loss, shock,dehydration, ehaustion, or infection hours or even days after the fight.
  • Dogs taken from dog fighting may become aggressive

Cock Fighting

Two Hens, usually males who have been injected with drugs and breed for fighting are put in a small ring to fight. Each has something on one of their feet. The two fight till the death; missing eyes, throats, feathers, ect. are missing.

Hog-Dog Fighting

A large hog who's tusks and snout have been removed are put against a breed dog. The dog is timed for how fast it can either corner the hog or kill/injure it. The dog can remove ears & large pieces of skin and meat from the hog.
