Tacoma Public Library at Your fingertips

Your school ID is now a working library card. How can you use it?

Secondary students may now use their student ID at 8 different Tacoma Public Libraries as a library card.

This is in addition to any other library card they may hold.

  • Check out 5 CDs
  • OR Check out 5 books
  • Use library computers after school
  • Ace your school work with online library services
  • Download ebooks
  • Use the library for research
No late fines will be accrued on public library materials, unless they items are lost or damaged.

How You Use The Power is up to you.

Jenny used her library card to check out a book on the death penalty for school, The Fault in Our Stars by John Green, and Volume 1 of Attack on Titan.

The Tacoma Public Library has tons of comic books, manga, novels, plus research books for school.

services for career and education.

Jordan used his student ID to log onto the libraries chat based tutoring service, and aced his Algebra test.
He also attended a YuGiOh tournament at the Main Library and won.

Students can chat via Instant Message with a trained professional tutor from any computer with the internet. All they need is their student ID number. This is available in English and Spanish. All grade levels, and all major subjects.
