WILLIAM HOWARD TAFT

  • William Howard Taft was the 27th president.
  • When he became president he was set on
  • continuing Roosevelt's work on the antitrust laws.
  • He continued "trust busting" until the end of his term
  • when he wasn't reelected.

THE PROGRESSIVE ERA

  • In 1908 Taft became president and began
  • working fervently on the antitrust laws.
  • In 1909 a year later Congress passed the
  • Payne-Aldrich Tariff. This law lowered the
  • cost for some goods to come into the U.S.

TAFT AS A PRESIDENT

  • When Taft was president he spent most
  • of his time in the whit house in Washington D.C.
  • Before he became president however he worked as
  • a judge in Cincinnati being the only president to
  • do both.
