Slide Notes

As I prepare for a new day in this wonderful creation of yours, please cleanse my body and purify my mind. I did the shower prayer. Most of the time, whenever I take a shower in the morning I am half asleep anyways and I don't really think about much. In fact, I tend to focus more on the negatives like all the stuff I don't want to do that day such as going to school or taking a test or going to school and then work and they doing homework. However, I think I should have a different, more optimistic mindset in the shower. After all, my day is just beginning and I can choose how I want it to go; instead of being pessimistic I should be optimistic. With the shower prayer I have learned to, first thing first, thank God for a new day as we are never guaranteed a new day anyways. In the shower, I am alone (surprisingly) and it is a perfect time to talk to God before all the hustle and noise of the day ahead. Therefore, I have taken this moment to confess my daily sins to Him and ask Him to cleanse my sins for the morning and start off the day fresh and void of lingering sins. I have learned to model Psalms 51:2- "wash me clean of all my sin and guilt." This is a perfect verse for this situation and I really have tried to take to heart and apply this in the mornings.

GOD:

CLEANSE MY SINS FOR TODAY

GOD:

Give Me Strength
"As I workout may the lyrics of these songs fill my heart with praise and adoration, but at the same time may they spread throughout my body and limbs so I may persevere and work harder for you throughout this workout." I have been doing the meditative exercising. First of all, I am an extremely avid music fanatic and I try to incorporate music in every part of my life. This is a perfect chance to do what I love while listening to what I love, but more importantly, for God. Whenever I work out there is just something about music that fills me and makes me work harder. I was a bit skeptical about listening to soft, Christian music to fulfill this purpose, but over time it really seemed to work. It has allowed me to connect with God in my own little world that lasts for an hour or so. Listing to songs such as How He Loves or How Great is our God has really allowed me to focus more on the words and meaning, and focus on the pain that Jesus went through, and by some type of symbolism incorporate that into my workout and endure through pain for God.

GOD:

MAY MY EMOTIONS NOT LEAD ME ASTRAY FROM YOU
I've done the making a list of emotions practice. For me I find it difficult sometimes to open up to others and actually reveal my true emotions. I don't want people knowing how I really feel sometimes although I'm sure they feel the same emotions. Of course, my emotions range just like anyone else, I have bad days and good days, positive thoughts and negative thoughts. Physically writing down emotions, although it may seem easy, is quite hard when you don't have the best of emotions. The big part of this practice was opening up but being completely honest with yourself while presenting them to God. We don't like to realize we are sad sometimes or angry, but it has helped writing them down and giving myself up so that God may see I am trying to be honest and at the same time asking him to help me with whatever is on my mind. Too many times we let emotions get the best of us and we stray away from God when times are rough, but I think we should face these emotions with God and ask Him to help.

GOD:

THANK YOU FOR MY ENDLESS BLESSINGS
I did the notecards of thankfulness practice. Too many times we wake up in the morning maybe thanking God for another day, and then proceeding on with a blessed, great day, but then going to bed like nothing ever happened for reason. Or maybe, like myself, we may say the same thankful prayer every night but not taking it to heart and meaning it. Of course it's easy to say thanks for everything, but we don't focus on small, individual things. That is why this practice is so imoortant in expressing thankfulness. Too many times I take for granted literally everything, and this practice has helped me take time and actually express my gratitude towards God. When things are going so smooth, and I wander what is going on and how God is helping me, it is a big boost to look down at a long list and see all the things I wrote about, and then praying again and covering all those blessings.

GOD:

YOU ARE THE ROCK TO MY FOUNDATION
I did the prayer stone practice. I am a hands-on learner; I like to touch and experience things. The prayer stone was a much needed practice to draw closer to God. Instead of carrying a stone all day I put in an obvious spot in my room, like in the picture. I, just like every other kid in the school, am terrible at remembering daily things to do such as homework. Too many times I go through my day without taking my time and that leads me to be rushed ultimately causing me to forget things. The prayer stone was a perfect remedy. I have two stones. One of them is a stone for my future- a biggie. The other stone is for my dad- another biggie. I find myself constantly worrying about my future. I am the type that always wants things to go right and follow a planned out outline to successfully fulfill my desires. I don't necessarily have a planned out outline for my future, which is a scary thought. However, with the prayer stone I know God is in control and he has the best outline for my future and this has relaxed me a bit. The other stone I just want to constantly pray for my dad as he is getting older and as he is trying to provide for his children.
