BACKGROUND

  • Hera's husband is Zeus which makes her the Olympian queen
  • She is goddess over marriage and women
  • She is also goddess over the sky and the heavens
  • Hera is patron goddess in Argos of Greece
  • Her sacred animal is the peacock

MORE BACKGROUND!

  • Hera is known for her jealousy and being very cold
  • She was treated with the same respect for her husband
  • In many myths she is known for trying and sometimes succeeding
  • in killing the children that Zeus has with mortal women

MAJOR STORY

  • One example of hera's cruel ness was that of Hephaestus
  • Hera tried to create him on her own trying to prove a
  • Point to Zeus
  • Because she did this out of anger Hephaestus was born deformed
  • Though he was deformed he was very crafty

MAJOR STORY CONTINUED

  • Because Hephaestus was deformed
  • Hera threw him off of Mt Olympus
  • Zeus did take pity on him
  • And he had Hephaestus married to Aphrodite
  • (He did this as punishment for Aphrodite)
