OXYGEN

  • Nonmetal
  • No conductive ability
  • Gas state in room temp.
  • Colorless; air
  • Obtained from liquid air
  • Supports life
  • No reaction with water
  • Atomic number: 8 Atomic Weight: 15.999g

SULFUR (S)

  • Nonmetal
  • Conductive in pure liquid form
  • Solid at room temperature
  • Pale yellow, odorless (it is sulfuric acid that smells like rotten eggs)
  • Sulfuric acid is produced when in contact with water
  • Burning sulfur can produce large amounts of sulfur dioxide, which is toxic and can cause lung damage and death. Molten sulfur can grow into hydrogen sulfide, H2S. H2S is very flammable and can cause an explosion or explosion hazard.
  • Atomic Number: 16 Atomic Weight: 32.07g

SELENIUM (Se)

  • Nonmetal
  • Conducts electricity better in light than in dark.
  • Solid at room temperature
  • Has no reaction in water
  • Not flammable
  • Used in industries to make red colored glass.
  • Atomic Number: 34 Atomic Weight: 78.96g

TELLURIUM (Te)

  • Metalloid
  • Doesn't react in water
  • Burns in air to form Dioxide Tellurium
  • Obtained from refining of lead and copper
  • Used to color glass & ceramics. Also used in thermoelectric devices.
  • Atomic number: 52 Atomic weight: 200.59g

POLONIUM (Po)

  • Metal
  • Conducts electricity right away
  • Solid at room temperature
  • Does not react in water
  • Flammability unknown
  • Eliminates static electricity in machinery
  • Atomic number: 84 Atomic weight: 209g
