SITUATIONAL IRONY

  • SOMETHING THAT YOU THINK WILL HAPPEN BUT ACTUALLY DOESNT
  • -I noticed the situational irony when I got my test back

MONOLOGUE

  • A long speech by only one person

SOLILOQUY

  • Speaking on stage on your own so the audience has better understanding
  • We each had to do a soliloquy for our class grade.

ASIDE

  • A remark or gesture made only to the audience without other characters knowing
  • The main characters aside wink made everyone laugh.

DRAMATIC IRONY

  • Something a character says that only the audience knows about
  • When the dramatic irony took place the rest of the cast looked confused.

COMIC RELIEF

  • A less serious note made by a character in a drama
  • We like to see plays where there is some comic relief

SATIRE

  • The use of wit or exaggeration in order to promote change
  • He used satire to expose the persons real intentions.

SARCASM

  • Remarks that mean that opposite of what you are saying
  • It's funny when someone doesn't get your sarcasm.

NON SEQUITUR

  • A statement unrelated to the one before it
  • The story had a lot of non sequitur sentences.
