BEFORE THE STRIKE
The homosexual community was strongly resented by the heterosexuals.
They gravitated towards larger urban areas where they could get lost in the crowds and not have to worry about their sexual orientation.
Also to haveg a community that they could relate with and not feel like an outcast
For this reason many homosexual didn't live within the bounds of rural areas.

HISTORY OF STONEWALL INN
StoneWall Inn was the name of a club in New York City. The club was a homosexual club.
StoneWall Inn club was raid by the police when stonewall was discovered to be selling liquor without a licenses.
Ther reason for the absence of a liquor license was due to the fact that the club was protected by the Mafia.
If the payments are missed the their would be a call to the cops giving them the right to go in and arrest homosexuals.

THE DEMOLITION OF TRADITION
On June 27, 1969 the day after police had to take shelter in establishments.
There was a impromptu for a lady named Judy Garland. Thousands of people from that the community of non-heterosexual.
The event took place on Christopher street and they gathered to celebrate her life.
Judy Garland was known as Dorothy from the wizard of oz .

PULLING THE THREAD
At the time being gay was a crime and you could be arrested for it in New York.
Therefore when the cops arrived at the club the homosexual were scared of being arrested for being gay.
It wasn't allowed to be openly gay in public.
Small businesses and homosexual establishments were many times raid and shut down.

GAY LIBERATION MOVEMENT OF 1960'S
During the end of the 1960's there was a movement to encourage lesbians and gays to come out.
Activism was at a its peak with hoping to overcome the shame of gay pride.
This was to gain exposed and reveal to the community or others their sexuality.
Women within the gay liberation movement they felt that there were being dominated by the men in the committee.

GAY LIBERATION FRONT
The gay liberation front saw their mission are transforming the society.
They not only wanted to support gays they wanted to address the other issues with in society.
Issues they addressed were Racism, militarism, consumer culture and sexism.
The group quickly spread to many other areas of the United States.

GAY ACTIVIST ALLIANCE
On December 21 the gay activist alliance was formed.
The were politically helping the gays and lesbians defend their rights.
The founders of the gay liberation front were also members of the gay activist alliance.
The gay activist alliance delicate their purpose solely to the lesbians and gay rights.

POST STONEWALL
The gay liberation front was formed one month after the riots that occurred the weekend before.
The publicity for lesbians and gay were at an all time high.
In results to the support of the homosexuals it led to a greater sense of the community.
Starting in the early 1970's parades were being held in New York as well as all over on the day of Stonewall.
