PRESENTATION OUTLINE

EARLY LIFE

  • Was born on April 7th 1770 in Cockermouth, Cumbria, England
  • Mother died when he was eight inspired his early work
  • Fell in love with poetry at Hawkstead Grammar School
  • But his father while he was at school leavening him and his siblings as orphans
  • After Hawkstead Wordsworth went to Cambridge and during final semester became full time poet

MIDDLE LIFE

  • In 1791 Wordsworth visited Revolutionary France and fell in love with Annehe Vallon gave birth in 1972 to their child Caroline
  • Returned too England alone next year because of lack of money and tension with France and England tried to marry Annehe but war prevented it. 1802 Wordsworth visited Annehe in Calais
  • In 1814 published work. In later years critics noticed a lack of work
  • 1838 recieved an honary doctor of civil law from Durbam University
  • 1842 the gov. awarded him a civil list pension amounting to £300 a year

CAREER

  • Began with Descriptive sketches (1793)
  • Reached an early climax before the turn of the century
  • Poems in two Volumes
  • Succeed in with short forms and was eager to accomplish more success more with longer poems

LATER LIFE

  • In 1813 William and his wife Mary Wordsworth moved to Girasmere to spend the rest of their lives
  • Heed the official position as distributor of stamps for Westmorlanel
  • 1814, he produced The Excorsion which is the 2nd of the three part Reclose
  • In 1829 his sister Dorothy died , 1834 Coleridge died . In 1847 Wordsworth's daughter died of holober culosis stopped writing after her death
  • Died in 1850 April 23rd at the age of 80 by pleurisy an inflammation of the lining around the lungs
