WHY DID EUROPE HAD EXTENSIVE EXPEDITIONS? IN ASIA?
It's because of the 3gs

2.)Gold
3.)Glory
The crusades was a military movement mainly composed of christian franks, It was first stared in 1198 by Pope Urban II
It's main objective was to retake the holy city Jerusalem from the hands of the muslim turks of whom captured it 400 years ago.
Back in the 1400's
There was no refrigerator to prevent food from spoiling so they needed alot of salt to cover their meat so that it wont spoil and they also need alot of spices to to cover the taste of spoiled food
If you will able to find spices and be able to ship it back to europe you will surely earn alot of gold and gold means wealth they are not after the gold literally
Discovering new lands of course will give you so many honors just like Christopher Colombus when he discovered the Americas
He made a town there name "Hispanyola" after that he came back to spain and the king gave him great riches and gave him the title "governor general of hispanyola"
Well off course if you find so many land you will surely earn alot of honors and of course your legacy will live on
