STEPS INVOLVED
Apprentice: Parents payed a master for training, and lived with the master. Trained for 2-7 years, and could not marry during this time
Journeyman: Worked for the master and earned a salary. Needs to create a masterpiece to become a master
Master: Owned his own shop. Worked with other masters to protect their trade, and sometimes even served in civic government

WHY WAS MEMBERSHIP IMPORTANT
Membership was important because it was a lot easier to sell you services and good. Guilds also usually built monopolies on the local markets
If you weren't in the guild however the guild would go after you and try and make sure you never sold anything
