PRESENTATION OUTLINE

BEACH EROSION

BY ZOE M AND BRADLEY S.

INTRODUCTION

  • Hello everybody we have made this haiku deck to help your concerns about the sand dunes at the Adelaide beaches. In this haiku deck it includes stabilisation of the sand dunes, our actions, changing shorelines and something called the sand transfer project.

STABILISATION

  • Dead Seagrass is being put over the sand dunes and preventing the sand dunes from blowing away.

CHANGING SHORLINES

  • The shoreline is always changing. It happens slowly but is always changing. For example, the waves carve patterns in the sand. Here is a map of Adelaide beaches.

SAND TRANSFER PROJECT

  • The sand transfer project reuses sand from the beaches in the north where it builds up. The sand then gets pumped to the southern beaches where the sand is getting eroded away. This pipeline system is not as visible and a lot quieter then trucks carting sand and makes a lot less disruption, allowing residents and local beach visitors to enjoy their local coastal areas.

SAND TRANSFER PROJECT

OUR ACTION

  • A good action to help stop erosion on the beaches is to not move the big rocks or dig in the rotted sea grass and not pull up the plants. The big rocks stop the waves from crashing into the road and washing away the road or destroying the road. If you dig in the Dead Sea grass you will uncover the sand and the sand will get blown away or washed away. The plants at the beach are being grown there because there roots hold the sand together.

OUR ACTION

CONCLUSION

  • Now we are at the end of our Haiku deck so now you know we are doing every thing in our power to stop bad erosion in the Adelaide beaches, like the Sand transfer project and the stabilisation of the sand dunes, for our glorious Adelaide beaches!!
